Teaser?

Yep that's right !
A month full of blogging !
That's 30 days.
Starting from this Wednesday (1st of May).
Will I be able to do it ?
Or will I fail....epically ?
Only time can tell.
So stay tuned !

This whole blogging 'event' was actually hosted by a blogger.
And she's spreading the word.
I got the word.
And now I'm spreading it !
You can visit her blog by clicking on the badge.
The one up there.
Yes the picture.

There are no specific rules or penalties.
Just have fun.
I kinda wanna give it a go.
Since I'm not sure how I'll be spending my nights from today onwards.
Since My Kitchen Rules ended.
Congratz to Dan and Steph from Queensland, by the way !

A topic has already been prepared for each day.
All we have to do is blog about it.
This should be fun.
I copied the rules and topics from her blog in case you're all curious about it !

Here are the rules:

1. There really aren't any rules. If you miss a day, you can make it up or skip it. The blog police will not come knocking.

2. I will be including a linkup option at the bottom of my post each day, so you are welcome to leave your links here for others to peruse, as well.

3. You can still post other things every day, too. I plan to do normal outfit posts, life posts, around-Austin posts, and sponsor posts just like usual.

4. I'd seriously love you if you also include the "blog every day in May" button (below) either on your sidebar or at the end of your posts, but again, the blog police will not come knocking. My main goal here is to get us all back to the basics of blogging, not to gain a million new readers (though I wouldn't mind that).

5. Here are the topics. You can be as creative and awesome or as boring and bland as you like with these. Take 'em and run with it. Use creative post titles. Interpret each "prompt" however you like. There's no wrong way to do it. Have fun.

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)
Day 2, Thursday: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. Take any approach you'd like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic)
Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable
Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it
Day 5, Sunday: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member
Day 6, Monday: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?
Day 7, Tuesday: The thing(s) you're most afraid of
Day 8, Wednesday: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.
Day 9, Thursday: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)
Day 10, Friday: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.
Day 11, Saturday: Sell yourself in 10 words or less
Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)
Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.
Day 14, Tuesday: Ten things that make you really happy
Day 15, Wednesday: A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)
Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it
Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why
Day 18, Saturday: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.
Day 19, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them
Day 20, Monday: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.
Day 21, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives
Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)
Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you
Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits
Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)
Day 26, Sunday: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.
Day 27, Monday: A letter to your readers
Day 28, Tuesday: Only pictures
Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post
Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go
Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

I'm really looking forward to it.
And I pray that I will be able to complete this challenge.
Just like how I went through Lent without soda.
(and am still going without it ! #win)

This will be the final post of
Season 13 : My Ephemeral Life.
Not that anyone is keeping track or anything.
And May will be a special OVA !
Lol.
I like how that sounds ^_^

power.of.words

For all you non-Aussies,
tomorrow is Thursday.
But more importantly,

it's ANZAC Day.
What's ANZAC Day ?
Let's see....

ANZAC stands for
Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
Yes, a day for the soldiers.
But not so much about the ones that are risking their lives in Afghanistan,
and more about the ones that are already.....
The ones who...during the Gallipoli campaign,
to be more specific.
What's the Gallipoli Campaign ?
Let's see...

It was 'Australia's First Test'.
Or in other words,
it was our first war since our independence.
It occured around early 1910.
And we failed....epically.

We sent around 15 thousand soldiers to Turkey.
1 Word : Manslaughter.
The ANZACs reaches the port at the foot of a hill.
The Turkish soldiers were waiting on top of the hill.
It was like playing an easy level of Angry Birds.
And just like the game.
The Turkish had infinite retrys.
As long as they kept us at bay.
So 'we' fought on for 8 months.
Before using some sneakish tactics to escape.

So....we failed our first test.
Not to mention the ANZACs were all volunteers.
I quote :
"Poor boys died for nothing."
So why are we celebrating ANZAC Day based on a failed mission ?

Beats me.
But it was something about fighting for what we believe in.
And also for honouring all those who ....
All I know is.
This is practically more important than Australia Day.
For true blue Aussies,
ANZAC Day is about bowing your head and respecting the fallen
while Australia Day is about watching free fireworks at the park and getting drunk.
Yep, that sounds about right.
I've already saw the drunkards.
So it's time for me to see the head-bowing Australians.

Every school has a special ANZAC assembly too.
Mine had one too.
Oh that awkward moment when you don't know how to sing your national anthem.
Can I still call myself a PR ?
Ok, well I did find some China students staring at me.
I reckon they thought I knew how to sing it.
Truth is, I've never even heard it before.
Unlike in Malaysia,
where they broadcast is every morning before school begins for your torturous pleasure.
Some students in my Math class claimed not having heard (or sang) the Australian National Anthem for about 6 years.
I did Youtube it once.
But the lyrics and sound effect on my phone were too misguiding for me to take it seriously.
And so.
Awkard moments will be awkward.

Back to the topic.
Power of Word.
'Dat Grammar.
Learned it from Persona.
Soooo....yeah.
Since most of my readers (and stalkers) ,who actually
read what I type and are not in this for blog-walking and self-promoting,
are from Malaysia,
I might as well ask this question.

"Have you ever been glad you can speak 3 (or even 4) languages ?"

Chinese (and it's endless dialects), English, Malay and sometimes even Hindu ?
I myself feel quite happy that I was forced into learning 3 different languages.
I mean think about it.
You're Chinese (well...most of you) so it's only normal for you to be able to speak Chinese too.
Different dialects for brownie points.
Then, you can speak English.
Which is considered a global language.
With English, you can communicate (hopefully) with people from all around the world.
Not bad, English AND Chinese.
But that's not all.
You know Malay !
'Cuz you're from Malaysia !
And I consider Malay as one of those
'I'll-never-learn-it-if-I-had-a-choice' language, no offence.
I mean how many people who AREN'T from Malaysia,
actually got interested in learning Malay.
Very few I suppose.
I mean, the amount is still considerable.
But other languages such as Japanese and Korean would probably,
and have probably already dwarfed it.
Once again, no offence.

So let's sum it up !
I know English, Chinese AND Malay.
And I know you'll never learn Malay in your whole life.
So that's a bonus for me.
I can talk bad things in your face,
and you'd just be staring blankly at me.
Ahh yes...
The power of words.
Or rather, languages.
Look, quantity over quality, ok ?

On a totally UNRELATED note,
heard about the Boston bombing ?
3 people...errr.... you get the idea.
One of them, in case you haven't heard,
is a Chinese uni student.
Her identity was the last to be revealed among the 3.
Because relatives demanded her information be kept confidential.
But of course,
in the end,
it still got out.
Why I decided to bring her up was because of a very tiny detail.
She was going to watch a marathon with her friend.
Death seemed so far away.
In her everyday carefree manner,
she got up, had breakfast, and went out.
The extremely ironic part is,
she took a picture of her breakfast,
and Instagram-ed it.
Nothing fancy.
I don't remember what she had,
but it didn't sound too appetising.
So she uploaded her picture
with a tiny quote.
"My Wonderful Breakfast"...
And then she....err....

This kinda reminded me how the unexpected always catches us off guard.
Oh great.
I'm starting to sound like one of those testimonials from Our Daily Bread...
What I'm trying to say is...
YOU ARE NEVER SAFE WHEREVER YOU GO.
YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T AVOID A POTENTIAL BOMB RESTING PEACEFULLY INSIDE A PRESSURE COOKER RIGHT NEXT TO YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE.
AND THE EXPLOSION WILL FOREVER LEAVE YOU LOOKING LIKE ANIKIN SKYWALKER WHEN HE LOST THE FIGHT AGAINST OBI WAN AT THAT REALLY HOT AND BIZARRE VOLCANO PLANET AFTER STRANGLING HIS WIFE TO THE POINT OF CHILDBIRTH....AND DEATH...

Happy ANZAC Day =D

term1nate.

Say babai to Term 1 of the school year.
And HELLO TO THE HOLIDAYS PERIOD WHERE YOU ARE GIVEN TIME TO FINISH ALL YOUR UNDONE HOMEWORK ! !
It's gonna be a blast !

But I guess I shouldn't be complaining so much
and just enjoy what little time I have.
Live (myridiculouslyshort) life to the fullest, y'know ?
Of course, you would.
If you were me right now,
you'd be doing some really interesting thing right about now.
But lookie at what I'm doing.
Doing homework *laughs*
No really, I'm doing my homework during the holidays.
I have so much to do *whines* #pitytears

Aside from my boring homework, I'm still trying to look for something fun to do.
Hopefully it won't be too time-consuming.
But chances are, I'd probably be stuck at home.
Watching episodes of My Kitchen Rules every night.
My favourite teams are all eliminated.
And the show's ending this week.
And then 'Homework' would be at the top of my
'Funnest Things To Do During Holiday'-list.

Oh but I did visit Curtin University yesterday.
And by Curtin University,
I actually mean Curtin University's Library.
Oh yes, something almost interesting enough to talk about.

So yeah, I followed one of my church friend,
who just so happen to be my neighbour,
to her uni. CURTIN ~~
Now as many of you know, I have always DREAMT of going there.
It's not really a dream dream.
I mean, I just like how it looks better than UWA.
Ok so back to the story.
I tagged along with her because she had to do her assignment
and attend her fitness classes in the evening there.
(no. She is not obese)
As for me, I just went there to explore.
The State Library gets a little vanilla after going there every week.

As soon as I got down from the train (waiting for the bus),
I started feeling all creeped out.
We were standing in a long line waiting for the bus to Curtin.
And my friend said 'And this is where Curtin students display themselves'.
We were all standing in a line.
Waiting for the bus.
At the corner of a bus station.
Located smack dab in the middle of a busy highway.
Yep, definitely on display.

Standing there with all those 'smart', 'accomplished', 'important' young adults.
I really felt like screaming :
"I'M NOT ONE OF YOUUUUU."
Dunno why.
Just a feeling at the bottom of my guts.
That feeling of uncontrollable anxiety.

Things got better as I got into the bus.
We got to the campus bus station.
Yep, so far so good.
Then, we went into the library.
A BIG library.
And the tension doubled.
Everyone was either doing assignments or studying.
OR doing a really good job pretending to.
I felt that my High School-level books were puny and insignificant.
Compared to the stuff they were reading and writing.

By the time we got to the 3rd floor,
which is the SILENT part of the library,
I was practically starting to pull my hair out.
I felt COMPLETELY out of place.
'What am I doing here ?'
I ask myself.
We passed by some tables,
and some students would stop what they're doing,
and give me a moment's worth of staring,
before returning their attention to their thick, thick, THICK book.
It made me feel alienated.
100%.

So, we got a room (no, it's not what you think)
and did our own homework.
Everything was going smoothly.
Internet was INSANE.
until....I had to get lunch.
Walking to the elevator was already nerve-wrecing enough.
BUT LUNCH !???
Walk ALL the way to the elevator,
press the correct button inside,
walk out of the library,
get in line,
choose desired food,
pay at counter,
find seat,
sit down and eat,
stare at whatever's in front while eating,
continue for 30 minutes,
get up,
find garbage bin,
go back up,
find correct room.
MIND = BLOWN.
But I had to do it,
no one is here to spoon-feed me anymore.
GROW.UP.

But we all know something awkward always happens to me.
First I find myself walking around the whole cafeteria trying to find the line,
only to end up at the cashier.
Second, I don't know what do pick.
Lunch lady approaches,
I PANIC.
Chose weird "meaty" (which I'm sure is vegen) pie thing that
no one has bought yet and also overpriced.
Don't know where the cashier line starts,
'cuz college students LOVEEEE to stand all around the place,
to make chatting easier.
Third, I find that I'm the only guy having that pie thingy.
And the only guy NOT to have a cup of coffee with me.
Well, at least I found a corner seat.
No one would give me that weird glance.
But if they did,
I'm sure they'd know I'm not a student there.
'Cuz I just bought something that no other student bought.
Which means I DON'T KNOW THE TREND THERE.
Gahhh. I'm so gullible.
Thank GOD Church Friend #1 texted Church Friend #2 to come check on me.
You see, they both signed up for the fitness class.

So I finished my 'meal', went back up.
They left for their class.
I was alone in the room for an hour.
And when you're alone in a room with super fast Internet connection.
You know what to do.
JUNIOR DOCTORS - YOUR LIFE IS IN THEIR HANDS.
Haha.
It's a documentary I found.
It airs on Sundays after My Kitchen Rules.
And I AM LOVING IT !

Don't get distracted....
*slaps self*
Nothing much interesting happened after that.
Took bus home.
Watched My Kitchen Rules.
Bought some screen protectors and a watch
for my iPod on eBay.
That's all.

NOW MORE ABOUT JR DOCTORS !
It's a real-life documentary
about several junior doctors
who have just graduated and are starting their work
at the same hospitals.
It's a British show and has spanned 3 seasons.
Season 2's first episode aired last Sunday.
And I found myself really enjoying it.
The cast (and hospital) changes every season so I didn't miss a single thing.

I guess I can say I was a little shocked when I watched it.
The episode was mostly about their first week at work.
And boy, did they SCREW UP.
I kinda had this mentality in my brain that doctors were perfect.
You needed excellent grades to study medicine,
you get rubber dummies for practicals.
When you graduate,
you're practically a pro.
But no, stereotype averted.
The Asian Jr Dr gave out confidential info on the phone,
because he didn't know about confidentiality....
The youngest Jr Dr kept on missing the cannulas,
PATIENT WAS PISSED.
There were also 'Aren't you a little to young for that' moments.
A female Jr Dr had to confirm a death on her first day.
One of the Indian Jr Dr was called into the crash team on his first day.
And don't even get me started on NIGHT SHIFT.

Overall, I really enjoyed the show.
I felt like it was made for TV but also quite natural at the same time.
It was very interesting to see things
without being too sugar-coated.
Raw and honest.
Ok now I'm getting hungry...
If you ever come to Australia (or England), definitely give the show a try.
Especially to those future doctors that I know ;-)

Well, time to hit the sack.
Tune in for more holiday updates.
Which I'm sure will just be as equally (or more) boring as this one.
Have a fun week !
Cheers (I'm Aussie !), mate !

indefinite.

#Before I begin.
Dear Abby,
if you're ever reading this.
I just want to tell you how much you were right.
There was NOTHING 3D about GI Joe 3D....
The only thing that was 3D (to me) was a sword and a slow-motion bullet flying towards me...
Also about the 3D subtitles ?
Well, there ARE no subtitles in Australia theatres !
I tried to be optimistic after reading your blog,
but what did I get ?
A sword and a bullet getting thrown and shot at me.

Ok. Back to the show. Today's main topic is......

If you don't know what this is.
Just go swallow a dead fish in your refrigerator...
Well to be fair, I didn't know about THIS until this week.
I heard it on the radio on my way to school and it REALLY sounded like a joke.
They said Dory was voiced by Ellen Degeneres which I did not believe.
I thought it was only a joke
because Ellen was actually in Aussie that time.
And the hype was INSANE !

Now to my expectations for this film,
I'm really looking forward to it.
I mean Finding Nemo WAS awesome,
although I kinda forgot everything that happened.
Except this.

Ok   I might have exaggerated on
this part.
But it does make sense.
Nemo didn't wanna stay in
some weird jelly plant for the rest of his life.

And I forgot about the rest.
Besides Nemo's dad setting off to find his son,
meeting Dory and teaming up.
Having fun jumping through the
jellyfish field (OMG Spongebob Reference !) together.
Nemo gets stuck inside an aquarium.
That's all I remember.
I don't even remember the final scene.

But then I saw this.

And this.

I still remember Dory was a real happy-go-lucky fish.
I did not even remember said said those sad lines in the film.
But I guess everyone has a sad part of them that they constantly hide behind a smile.
Sometimes you just need someone to be there for you.
Unfortunately, Dory didn't.

And according to Wikipedia (unreliable source alert !),
Finding Dory is about an amnesiac (I never knew...) Dory finding her family.
That would DEFINITELY make a happy ending.
At least for me anyways (She's a BLUE fish ! How adorable is that ?)

THere's still a long way before the film reaches the big screen (2015...according to Wiki).
But I'm sure I'll still be super hyped up when the time comes.
Of course, it's does kinda look weird.
A uni (IF I EVER MAKE IT THERE) student jumping around like a 10-year old
about watching an 8-year old movie.

Unfortunately, while I was doing research (ON WIKI) for this film for this blog post,
I found out that Nemo's voice actor, Alexander Gould,
WON'T reprise his role.
Because of....puberty.
Lol. That's right.
IT FINALLY HAPPENED.
A sequel was finally made (near impossible) because of puberty !
Search for new VA in progress, anyone ?

When the film gets released,
it would've been more than a decade since I heard Nemo's voice.
I wonder would my brain feel whether the new VA sounds natural
or would it shout :
"THAT'S NOT NEMO !"
Haha.
I'll have to stay away from Finding Nemo until then,
just to make sure.
On a completely unrelated note,

Monster Uni, anyone ?

Oh and ONE LAST THING.
I'm gonna go on a little hiatus (*gasp !)
for around 2 weeks.
Until my first term ends,
because I am currently being bombarded
by all sorts of assignments AND tests.
I really feel like a uni student now.
So just like any other 'uni' student,
we have to study.
I have to study.
Ok that sounded a little wrong.
Well, seeya peeps in a couple of weeks.

It.began.with.'a'

Enough about aimless blogging and emo entries.
Let's do positive today.
OHHHHH TODAY'S THE LAST DAY OF EASTER HOLIDAYS
WHYYYYY. WHYYYY LAHHHHHH.
I REGRET (&*(&%^&$)*(%&
Let's do something special and make someone's day today, shall we ?
Since someone did make my day,
might as well continue the trend so that whatever weird blogosphere out there gets filled with joy and love COOKIES !

Today, I'm gonna talk about a special someone with initials 'A' (jangan perasan !).
Well, I dunno how to write good things about people.
So I'll just tell you all a story.

I remember (more than her anyways) seeing her in my first year of high school.
My memories of her are vogue, but I remember one scene vividly.
Back in the days,
where we were all still munchkin-sized,
back when Ai San was still a big bully to me (well, she still was, until last year),
back when we (or I) had not the slightest clue of what Form 6 would be like.

This story does not begin on a boat.
But rather, at a single-row car park.
More specifically, the drains in front of the car park space.
It was around 3pm.
We were suppose to be somewhere else.
We were gonna be in trouble.
But they never kept track of where we were.
So we just wandered.
And of all the places, we decided to chill on top of a drain.
(I'm having trouble explaining the situation with my terrible vocabulary #bearwithmeimdoingsomethingnice)

We were talking casually.
Something came out of my mouth.
It went into her ears.
She didn't like the flavour.
She stood straight, in front of me.
Without any warning.
Starting whacking me....like REAL HARD.
It was like slaughter !

Slaps were thrown.
Tears were shed.
Apologies were offered.
Ice Cream came next.
A Smile followed.
Then.....THE SLAUGHTERING CONTINUED.

No Ice Cream was received.

And that's how I came to fear and revere the being that is "A".
She really packed a punch.

Free for Interpretation =D
That's all the time I've got for today.
I'll tell more 'A' stories when I have the time.
Until then.
